Eyedropper

The barrel itself is the ink tank, filled by dropper.

An eyedropper conversion (or purpose-built eyedropper pen) does away with mechanisms entirely: you fill the barrel with a pipette and seal it against the section — silicone grease on the threads is the traditional gasket.

Capacity is enormous (3 ml and up), which is the whole point. The caution is "burping": as body heat warms the air inside a low tank, expanding air can push ink out the feed. Purpose-built eyedroppers like the Opus 88 add a shut-off valve for exactly this reason.
