Piston filler
A built-in screw piston that fills the barrel itself.
A piston filler builds the pump into the pen: twist the blind cap at the tail and a seal travels up the barrel, drawing ink directly into it. No cartridge, no converter — the barrel is the tank.
The payoff is capacity (often 1.5–2 ml) and a bit of occasion every time you fill. The trade is cleaning time and, eventually, a service: seals are wear parts on a decade scale. The TWSBI Eco makes the system famous under $40; Pelikan built a house on it.
